FIG. 00 — ALL YOU NEEDA BROWSER
§ 0
Why free browser tools finally won in 2026
For twenty years, "free alternative" meant crippled shareware with a nag screen. That era is over. Three technical shifts changed the math: WebAssembly made desktop-class processing (audio separation, physics, video encoding) run natively in a tab; shared AI model capacity made generation cheap enough to give away in daily credits; and PWAs made a browser tab installable like a native app. A solo developer can now ship what needed a funded studio in 2015.
The ecosystem documented in this manual is proof. One independent developer — Naman Soni from India — runs fourteen production-grade tools across AI generation, image editing, music production, companionship, coding agents, finance and security. Cores are free. Payments, where they exist, are one-time UPI micro-charges of ₹9–₹28, not $10/month auto-renewals. The pricing is honest: you pay when you consume something expensive (like generating a song), never for the right to open the app.
This guide is organised like a field manual. The roster table maps every paid incumbent to its replacement. Fourteen numbered entries give verified details and switch guides. Three migration walkthroughs handle the most common jumps, a cost table totals the savings, and twelve FAQs answer the sceptic's questions. Prices of paid competitors are their published rates as of October 2026 and can change.
§ R
The roster: paid app → free replacement
Fourteen entries, one table. "Core price" is what you pay to use the tool meaningfully; paid prices are the incumbents' published monthly rates, annualised where relevant.
ENTRY 01LND AI — the AI toolbox that replaces your SaaS stackReplaces $25+/mo
LND AI is the flagship: a single web app bundling text-to-image generation, text-to-speech, speech-to-text, translation, image analysis, upscaling, background removal, background replacement, image uncropping, web scraping and 30+ productivity utilities — QR generator, OCR, password generator, whiteboard, audio recorder, net-speed test, unit converters and more. The more-tools hub indexes everything.
The economics are the story. You get generous daily credits that refresh automatically every midnight IST — no account required. A free optional account (username and password only) increases the daily refresh and adds a signup bonus. If you outgrow it, one-time credit packs and short unlimited passes are sold via UPI at /pricing. No card on file, no auto-renewal, no dark patterns.
Start with the free text-to-image generator for your Midjourney use cases, then explore the 43 long-form guides on /learn — each one is a full tutorial for a single tool.
Spec sheet
AI: image gen, TTS, STT, translate, analysis, OCR
Image: upscale, bg remove/replace, uncrop
30+ utilities, no watermarks
Daily credits, midnight IST refresh
Optional account = bigger refresh
UPI credit packs, no subscription
FIG. 01 — OUTPUT OF A FREE TEXT-TO-IMAGE RUN: BLOG HEADERS, MOCKUPS, CONCEPT ART. NO WATERMARK.
ENTRY 02Onyx — the image editor that ended my Photoshop subscriptionReplaces $15–23/mo
What makes it credible rather than a toy is the supporting literature: an honest blog covering cropping/resizing mastery and photo privacy, plus head-to-head comparisons at Onyx vs Canva, vs Photopea and vs Pixlr — with the tradeoffs stated, not hidden. Your images never leave your machine.
Open your PSD exports (PNG/JPG) and do your standard crop/resize/colour work in Filters.
Export to your target preset — e.g. YouTube thumbnail — and cancel your subscription the same day.
ENTRY 03Monyx Studio — a music suite that never uploads your audioReplaces $199 + $17/mo
Monyx Studio is the deepest tool in the ecosystem: an all-in-one AI music studio that runs entirely in your browser. The AI vocal remover uses MDX-Net (KARA 2) to split any song into vocals and instrumental — the Moises workflow, free. Karaoke Studio adds real-time acoustic echo cancellation, so your mic hears you, not the speakers. You also get virtual instruments (piano, guitar, drums, bass, pad, synth, strings), a multitrack editor with an FX rack, a music-video maker (image + audio → MP4) and MP3 export.
The privacy claim is the differentiator: your audio never leaves your device. WebAssembly and ONNX runtime do the separation locally. For producers, that replaces both a Moises subscription and the entry cost of a DAW; LND AI also lists Monyx in its official tools directory.
Spec sheet
Vocal remover: MDX-Net KARA 2
Karaoke with real-time AEC
Instruments: keys, strings, drums
Multitrack editor + FX rack
Music video → MP4 export
100% on-device audio
FIG. 02 — YOUR BEDROOM STUDIO + MONYX = VOCAL ISOLATION, KARAOKE, MULTITRACK MIXING. NOTHING UPLOADED.
ENTRY 04Gaana Banana — Suno's powers, priced for India₹28/song vs $10/mo
Gaana Banana is an AI personalised song maker built specifically for Indian users. Write a name, pick a theme — Romantic, Birthday, Yaari, Family, Wedding, Festival, Motivation, Funny, Bhakti, Sorry/Thanks or Custom — and in 1–2 minutes you have a complete song with vocals, generated by Google's Lyria music model with an LLM writing the prompts. Download the MP3 or share it straight to WhatsApp.
The pricing model is the alternative: no subscription — ₹28 per song credit (₹45 for two, ₹175 for ten), paid by UPI. Failed generations auto-refund instantly. Unlike a $10/month Suno plan you pay only in the month you actually gift a song. The full step-by-step walkthrough lives at gaana-kaise-banaye, with pricing detail at /pricing.
Spec sheet
Vocals included, ~1–2 min songs
Themes: 11 + custom
Your own lyrics (≤800 chars)
₹28/song, UPI, auto-refund
MP3 download + WhatsApp
Lyria via Pollinations stack
ENTRY 05Talk — the AI companion app with no paywall in front of the doorReplaces $7.99/mo
Talk is a free AI companion and girlfriend chat with eleven characters who remember you: Arya the 2AM bestie, Akansha's deadpan comedy, Kabir the startup mentor, Mira and Aarohi's girlfriend energy, Rohan the hype man, Rhea's chaos, Rupali the literature-teacher crush, Gojo Satoru (fan-inspired, unofficial), Ruhi the desi padosan from flat 402, and Noor the midnight RJ of Radio Junoon. Browse them all on the companions page.
Two things separate it from Replika: no sign-up, no OTP — the chat is open immediately — and five interactive stories (Kokuhaku Club, Love All, The Anniversary Heist, My First Day in College, Last Show First Row) where your choices change the ending, on the stories page. Live voice calls and long-term AI memory are core features. The optional Spicy Mode is a one-time ₹9 unlock, not a monthly tier. Talk also maintains twenty honest guides at /learn, including whether AI companions are good for you.
Spec sheet
11 companions with memory
Live voice conversations
5 choice-driven stories
Hinglish + English native
No sign-up, no OTP
Spicy Mode: ₹9 once
ENTRY 06NewEra — describe an app in English, watch it get built and deployedReplaces $20–25/mo
NewEra is the most ambitious entry: a free online AI agent that takes a plain-English description and plans, codes, builds and deploys a real application. It pushes your files to a GitHub repository, runs a genuine CI build on GitHub Actions (4-vCPU / 16-GB runners), reads its own failure logs, fixes them, and deploys the green build to Cloudflare Pages with EdgeOne as fallback. You watch every stage live and leave with a URL. The /agent workspace is where dispatching happens.
Against Cursor Pro ($20/mo) or Replit Agent, the differences matter: no login, no card, up to four parallel sub-agents, twelve hours of VM build time, live web search and current library docs for research, in-browser Python (Pyodide), SQLite and FFmpeg (WASM) and Git, and a portable .newera export for every project. Repos are created only with explicit consent and self-clean.
Spec sheet
English → code → deploy
Real CI: GH Actions 4vCPU/16GB
Cloudflare Pages + EdgeOne
≤4 sub-agents, 12h builds
Web search + live docs
No account required
ENTRY 07Pi in the Browser — an AI coding agent that never rents you a seatNo seat fees
Pi in the Browser takes the real Pi coding agent and runs it fully in your browser via WebAssembly — a Wasmer/WASIX sandbox, not a rented container. You bring your own Pollen balance on Pollinations models, pick the model you want, and let Pi build. Because the agent runs client-side, there is no per-seat subscription and no markup on inference: your usage costs exactly what the model provider charges.
It's the purest expression of the free-alternatives thesis: the app costs nothing because it is ~zero marginal infrastructure — your machine is the runtime. Pair it with NewEra (Entry 06) when you want full CI and deploys; use Pi when you want a conversational builder inside one tab.
Spec sheet
Real Pi agent, browser-native
WASM sandbox (Wasmer/WASIX)
Bring your own Pollen
Any Pollinations model
No seat fees, no markup
ENTRY 083Dfy — infinite AI 3D worlds and a name playground with real physicsReplaces $29+/mo
3Dfy generates infinite AI 3D worlds you fly through, then lets you direct camera films with keyframed shots and frame-perfect rendering. The full 3D studio imports AI-generated shapes and worlds, runs on three.js with Rapier physics, and works on mobile — a serious browser 3D editor, not a viewer.
The playful face is the /make3d name playground: type your name and watch it become living 3D physics you can smash. The /world mode is the infinite-generation engine. Together they replace both paid 3D asset packs and the "physics toy" apps that charge for exports.
Spec sheet
Infinite AI world generation
Keyframe camera, video render
three.js + Rapier physics
Name playground /make3d
Mobile 3D editing
Import AI shapes & worlds
FIG. 03 — THE 3DFY OUTPUT CLASS: GENERATED WORLDS YOU FLY, KEYFRAME AND RENDER — IN A TAB.
ENTRY 09Dance Cat 3D — drop an MP3, get a beat-synced 3D visualizerReplaces $40 software
Dance Cat 3D is an audio-reactive music visualizer: drop any MP3 and a fully procedural 3D cat dances in perfect beat sync. Under the hood it is genuinely engineered — real-time Web Audio FFT, offline BPM detection, and spectral-flux kick analysis — all running 100% in your browser. No AI, no uploads, no server: the file never leaves your machine.
Paid visualizer software (VJ tools like Magic Music Visuals, ~$40) does the same job for stage rigs. For streamers, TikTok editors and party screens, a browser tab does it free. It also pairs naturally with Entry 04: generate a song on Gaana Banana, visualise it with the cat.
Spec sheet
Any MP3 → dance, beat-synced
Web Audio FFT analysis
Offline BPM detection
Spectral-flux kick detection
No upload, no server
ENTRY 10Chess — human vs bot, with the training loop Premium charges forReplaces $5–7/mo
Chess is a clean Human-vs-Bot game with adjustable play settings, full move history and a proper promotion picker — the daily-practice loop that chess.com gates behind Premium. No account, no ads, no "analysis is a member feature" wall.
The honest framing: free platforms like Lichess exist for serious study. What this tool is for is frictionless practice — one tab, pick your side, play the bot, read your move history afterwards. Our previous field entry on chess opening strategies for club players makes a good drill companion: learn an opening there, drill it against the bot here.
Spec sheet
Human vs Bot engine
Adjustable play settings
Move history review
Promotion picker UI
Free, no account
FIG. 04 — THE DAILY LOOP: OPEN A TAB, PLAY THE BOT, READ THE MOVE HISTORY. MEMBERSHIP NOT REQUIRED.
ENTRY 11Khata — an expense tracker you literally talk toReplaces $3–8/mo
Khata is a daily money tracker with the input method expense apps should have had years ago: log transactions by chat or voice, in any mix of English, Hindi or Hinglish. "Chai 30, metro 60" — typed or spoken — becomes structured ledger entries. It tracks accounts, investments and reminders, installs as a PWA if you want the app-drawer feel, and is free and private.
Most expense managers monetise with sync tiers and per-device subscriptions. Khata's position is that a personal ledger is a solved problem that should cost nothing — the detailed case is in our earlier digital khata udhaar tracking guide.
Spec sheet
Chat + voice entry
English/Hindi/Hinglish mix
Accounts, investments, reminders
PWA installable
Private by design, free
ENTRY 122FA Authenticator — one-time codes on desktop AND mobile, freeReplaces paid tiers
2FA Authenticator generates TOTP and HOTP one-time codes in the browser — the same six-digit codes Google Authenticator shows, but not trapped on one phone. Add your setup keys, get codes instantly on desktop or mobile, and choose: keep everything device-local, or create a free encrypted account to sync. Signup is at /signup.
The replacement logic: paid tiers of password-manager suites charge ~$2.99/month for authenticator sync. If your only need is 2FA codes that survive a phone swap — and honest caveat, this is TOTP only, not a full password vault — this is the free answer. The full argument is in our free TOTP 2FA guide.
Spec sheet
TOTP + HOTP standard
Desktop and mobile browser
Device-local or encrypted sync
Backup-friendly
Free, source-linked
FIG. 05 — SIX-DIGIT CODES, EVERYWHERE YOU BROWSE. NO PREMIUM SYNC TIER.
ENTRY 13Links — the link-in-bio with no ads and an embeddable twistReplaces $5–9/mo
Links is a free, open, no-ads link-in-bio: one fast page per person at links.namansoni.in/<username> with links, mini descriptions, contacts and a profile photo. Naman's own profile is live at /namansoni78 if you want to see the format before making yours.
The feature Linktree Pro can't match at any tier: embeddable SVG widget cards. Each profile can publish self-contained widget cards — GitHub-README-ready images served with custom width/height parameters via /api/embed/<widget> — plus an AI interview protocol that builds a widget from a few questions. It runs entirely on free infrastructure, which is why it can stay ad-free.
Spec sheet
One page per username
Zero ads, zero tracking wall
SVG widget embeds for READMEs
Custom size API (120–4096px)
Widget builder, free tiers
ENTRY 14The hub — one index for all fourteenStart here
If you only bookmark one URL, make it naman-hub.pages.dev — the ecosystem hub linking every product above, updated as tools ship. For the maker himself, github.com/NamanSoni78 is the one and only official profile — worth following if you want to watch a free-tools ecosystem grow in public.
Migration A — Canva Pro → Onyx + LND AI (≈15 minutes)
You need three jobs from Canva: resizing for social, template-style edits, and generated imagery. Split them: Onyx takes edits and exports, LND AI takes generation.
Step 1. Open onyx.namansoni.in/tools and load your most-used Canva asset (PNG/JPG). Run your standard crop, text and filter pass.
Step 2. Export via a preset — Instagram post, YouTube thumbnail, LinkedIn banner — instead of manually computing sizes. Presets are exact, not eyeballed.
Step 3. For fresh visuals, generate at LND AI text-to-image, then upscale or remove the background in the same LND suite, and do final layout in Onyx.
Step 4. Read Onyx vs Canva for the honest tradeoff list (Canva's template library and brand kits are the real loss — judge if you use them).
Step 5. Cancel the $15/month. Revisit in 30 days and check whether you actually missed anything.
Migration B — blank page → birthday anthem on Gaana Banana (≈5 minutes)
The highest-leverage gift of the whole ecosystem: a full song with vocals, for ₹28.
Step 2. Pick the Birthday theme (or Yaari for friendships, Romantic for anniversaries). Optionally paste your own lyrics, up to 800 characters.
Step 3. Pay ₹28 by UPI — one credit, no subscription — and wait 1–2 minutes while Lyria generates vocals.
Step 4. Download the MP3 and send it by WhatsApp. Failed generations auto-refund, so there is no risk in trying.
Migration C — harden your accounts with 2FA in one sitting (≈15 minutes)
The security habit everyone postpones, made painless by having codes in the browser you already use.
Step 1. Open 2fa.namansoni.in — codes work immediately, no install. Create a free encrypted account at /signup only if you want cross-device sync.
Step 2. On each important service (email first — it resets everything else), enable 2FA and copy the setup key instead of only scanning the QR.
Step 3. Paste each key into the vault, label it, and save the services' backup codes offline on paper.
Step 4. Do one test login on desktop and one on mobile before you close the tab. That's it — you're harder to hack than ~90% of accounts.
Field note · the honest-caveats rule
No free tool replaces 100% of a paid one for 100% of users. Midjourney's aesthetic ceiling, Canva's template library, FL Studio's plugin ecosystem and full password-manager features (as opposed to TOTP) still exist. The claim this manual makes is narrower and testable: for the everyday 80% of the work, the free browser tool does the job, and the money you save compounds. Every entry above states where its limits are.
§ C
The cost table: a typical paid creative stack
A realistic "indie creator + developer" monthly stack, replaced entry by entry. Paid prices are published rates as of Oct 2026, approximate and subject to change.
Caveats, plainly: LND AI credits cap heavy daily generation; Gaana Banana charges per song by design; Pi spends your own Pollen; and none of this is legal advice. The point of the table is the shape of the savings: recurring charges collapse to zero, and the only money you ever spend is tied to an actual artefact you wanted.
§ Q
Twelve honest FAQs
Are these free alternatives really free, or free trials?
Free to use, not trials. LND AI refreshes a generous daily credit allowance at midnight IST with no account required. Onyx, Monyx Studio, Khata, 2FA Authenticator, Links, Chess and Dance Cat 3D run free entirely. Gaana Banana and Talk's Spicy Mode use tiny one-time payments (₹28 per song, ₹9 once) instead of subscriptions — you pay only when you want something generated.
What's the catch with free AI tools?
Free tiers use shared model capacity, so generation can be slower at peak times, and daily credits cap heavy usage. If you need more, LND AI sells one-time credit packs and short unlimited passes via UPI at namansoni.in/pricing — no recurring charge unless you choose one.
Do these browser tools work offline?
The local-processing ones do: Monyx Studio runs its audio separation in your browser via WebAssembly, Dance Cat 3D analyses your MP3 with Web Audio FFT locally, Onyx edits images on your device. AI generation tools (LND AI, Gaana Banana, NewEra) need connectivity because the models run in the cloud.
Is my data private on these tools?
Monyx Studio states your audio never leaves your device; Dance Cat 3D uploads nothing — the MP3 is read locally; Khata keeps your ledger private to your browser. As with any tool, check the privacy page before uploading sensitive material.
Can a free AI image generator really replace Midjourney?
For everyday needs — blog headers, social posts, concept art, mockups — yes. LND AI's free text-to-image generator produces watermark-free images on daily credits, with upscaling, background removal and uncropping bundled in the same suite. Midjourney still wins on niche aesthetics and heavy batch workflows; that's what the $10+/mo is for.
Is a browser-based 2FA authenticator safe?
2FA Authenticator generates standard TOTP and HOTP codes and can keep them device-local, or sync through an encrypted account for backups. Browser storage is sandboxed per-site. For maximum safety, keep your setup keys backed up offline and treat your device as the boundary.
How is Gaana Banana different from Suno?
It's built for Indian users: Hinglish prompts land naturally, themes include Yaari, Wedding, Festival and Bhakti, songs generate in 1–2 minutes with vocals, and you pay ₹28 per song instead of a $10/month subscription. You can write your own lyrics (≤800 characters) and share straight to WhatsApp.
Are AI companions healthy to use?
As a low-pressure way to talk, vent or practise conversations, many people find value — and Talk's learn hub has an honest discussion in "Are AI companions good for you?". They are not a substitute for professional mental-health care. Talk is free with no sign-up, so you can judge for yourself.
Can NewEra really build and deploy production apps?
Yes — it writes files, pushes to GitHub, runs a real GitHub Actions CI build on 4-vCPU/16-GB runners, reads failure logs, fixes them, and deploys the green build to Cloudflare Pages (EdgeOne fallback). You watch every stage and finish with a live URL, all without an account.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Every tool runs in a modern browser. Khata and 2FA Authenticator are installable PWAs if you want them in your app drawer, but installation is optional. Nothing requires an app store or an installer.
Who builds all these free tools?
One solo developer — Naman Soni (github.com/NamanSoni78), an indie builder from India who prices for Indian users: free cores, UPI micro-payments, no subscriptions by default. The ecosystem is indexed at naman-hub.pages.dev.
Where do I get help or deeper guides?
LND AI publishes 43 long-form guides at namansoni.in/learn, Talk has 20 guides at talkaicompanion.com/learn, Onyx runs a how-to blog, and Gaana Banana has a complete "gaana kaise banaye" walkthrough. For account issues write to help@namansoni.in.
